This may well be a first, an entry being written on stage while a performance is taking place.


Sat on the side of the Barbican stage watching the scenes immediately prior to Caesar's death, some 2 hours into the show.

All I can say is if you can come one of the two next nights then come, it is an amazing experience!

Though you can go out of the theatre, there is food and drink on stage and an amazing camaraderie already amongst the audience.

Were there many there ? This event has been subject to massive pre-publicity by Barbican standards, I assumed it was seeling badly. The thought of 6 hours performed in Dutch put me off, in the end, but it looked like a worthwhile exercise.

They were only selling the stalls of the Barbican Theatre, but was full down there.

All I can say after the full experience is wow!

Yes, stalls were about 90% full last night, but it is relaxed slightly during the performance since you can move about on the stage and sit up there too so it never felt too crowded.

I can only echo the above comment, wow. It is exhilarating like you wouldn't believe, the interpretation feels so fresh and contemporary and the time fair flew by, it really didn't feel like 6 hours. Antony and Cleopatra was probably my favourite of the three, if only for the title performances, Cleopatra was astonishing, youbarely needed the surtitles to understand what she was saying, give the woman an Olivier!!

If you can get a ticket for tomorrow, I would highly recommend it: probably the best theatrical experience I've had all year. Wow!
