Anyone have any idea what sort of time I'd need to arrive to get in line for the day seats for the Saturday matinee or evening show? Do they sell for both shows at the same time?

Thanks

Both shows are sold at the same time 10.30am, queue starts outside the Donmar main entrance and goes along the wall outside the theatre.
Only 2 tickets per caller so get there early, 8.30-9am to be in with a good chance of securing one.

7.50am is probably a better idea if you want to be CERTAIN/like to be first. People will think "I'll arrive around 8am", so that ten minutes gives you the jump on a surprising number of people who'll pop along at 8ish. smile.gif

For the first preview there were about 4 people there by 7am. If they had the 2 tickets each, then that would have been most of the 10 day seats gone...

Make it earlier then? laugh.gif But whatever time you decide to go, I do stand by my suggestion of "arrive ten minutes before then". It's like bidding £13.86 on an eBay item to beat the people who bid in round numbers like £13.50. Idiotically simple, but startlingly effective.

Mind you, with this production, it almost sounds like it'd be a bonus to miss out on a day seat and have to go for standing room... wink.gif

Lots of tickets-in stalls -available for a lot of dates in August--are Donmar therefore holding back these seats for September?--go, go, go

They've just released the side end row seats in the stalls and circle, the ones right in the corners which will have a limited view of the stage even though they say they won't, about 10 or so for each performance, they're going fast. Also available in september too.
Now the previews are over and press night is done the theatre has more of an idea if these seats can be used (sightlines, set etc) and as demand has been so high it's worth them releasing them.
Get in quick.

Can someone explain to me the deal with the standby tickets? Are they like returns, so you don't know if there will be anyway, but people begin queuing for them at a ridiculously early time as well? :/ I want to catch Streetcar as well, but my mornings have been stolen when I'm down in london....

Yes, you summed it up rather well! For Othello they queued up for these really early. Obviously you can queue after people have got the day seats in case someone brings back a ticket on the day (I have done this in the past). I don't rate your chances for this one but the queue is inside the shopping complex, so quite hospitable!
