Of course it will come here. Just a question of when.

And when it does, you can expect that Pippa Ailion will be casting it. She casts the majority of Disney's stuff.

Its been pretty badly trashed by the critics on Broadway (but is sold out pretty much every performance of course rolleyes.gif , so of course it will come over here!!!

I bought the soundtrack on a recent trip to NYC after not being able to get tickets and the girl who plays Ariel is AMAZING but the new music written for the show isnt all that special IMHO.

The sets and costumes have come in for a fair bit of stick as well - i saw a clip of Under The Sea and it looks like they've let loose a group of 5-year-olds with glitter and pipe cleaners. A lot of the chorus were in spandex jump suits with big barnacles and starfish stuck on - not good! They really should have got Julie Taymore (Lion King) in to design this show.

It's still pretty spectacular though, from what Ive heard

Maybe they will stick it in the lyceum, a size of theatre they would need for a show like this, when the lion kings close, which judging by the shoerter extension booking periods, will not be too long.

They have no plans to bring it to the west end yet....and there certainly isnt a free theatre for a while.....

Id like to see it go to the Prince Edward if it does arrive in the future...

i went to see the little mermaid a couple of months ago in NY and thought it was ana amzing show and would love it to come over here, although the cast are just perfect for the roles and i would be cautious about seeing a different cast.
i think the lyceum is too big for the show, the lunt fontanne still has a feeling of intimacy and is definatley smaller than the lyceum.

The Lunt Fontanne being the theatre they put 'Beauty and the Beast' in when they down-sized it. I believe it was at the Palace Theatre before that, which I'm presuming is gigantic.

yes, i saw legally blonde at the palace and that was a much larger venue; on the scale of the lyceum.

Therefore you can expect Kerry Ellis to be auditioning for the part of Ariel wink.gif
