well i have to say... what a pile of rubbish...

i'm seeing the show again in a few weeks and it will be interesting to see if it settles in but its appalling at the moment. Some good performances, some awful (one of the girls sounded like a man?)

It'll do well because it's Grease and because the first season is already sold out but it was like sitting in a sea of chavs last night.

I just feel sorry for the very good performers in the show to be among the less good.....

Oh please provide more info! I know the production is the same as Gilmour's original over-toured, over-transfered production. Does it look like the sets are going to fall apart? Anything fresh? And how were the reality TV cast "stars"?

And over scaled down.

Surely they've invested some cash into the set and not just put the decidedly wobbly touring set in.

They've not spent any money at all.

eg. the laser sequence which featured in the London 'Greased Lightning' hasn't come back... neither have the two balconys.

The only good performances were from Rizzo and Vince Fontaine/Teen Angel. The others were all mediochre.

Of course the 'chav' audience loved it and there was even a fight in the dress circle.

With friends like that...

Hey i went to first preview. the show was just so lazy and messy and the script was unoriginal and un funny. The only person i liked was the person that played doody. The sets were so rubbish and had no money spent on them at all, the audience were terrible and i mean terrible. singing along, mobile phones going off, talking, every ten seconds a member of the audience got up to go to the bar to get more alcohol for the people that were allready out of their heads. I was sitting in the dress circle and there were in fact two fights. One just before and during beauty school drop out between two couples who one had asked the other to stop talking and the chavs giot annoyed and picked a fight on the wrong [erson and the ushers did sod all but tell them to be quiet. then at the end the fight happened again and one woman nearly got pushed over the side of the dress circle. This all happened during the megamix and a member of the audience grabbed one woman and pushed her down onto the floor on the stairs and everytime she tried to get up he did it again. It was like a riot and i for one am glad i havent booked tickets to see it again.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. Why has no money or time been spent here? Has it not had a good advance...erm yes! At least when ALW revives a rubbish thats played to death he plus some money into it! This is *so* slap-dash.

I suspect the problem is more to do with the delivery of the script. When delivered well the 'Grease' script is quite amusing.
