Not really sure that this deserves to be in the 'Musicals' section but anyway...

Dancing in the Streets is to close on Saturday 14th July 2007.

...and about bloody time....

whilst i agree that this show is not necessarily deserving of a place in the west end, and is of west end standard, there will be people who have seen this show and not been seasoned theatre goers, and they will have had a fabulous time and therefore be inclined to book to see something else as a result of the positive experience

im not a lover of panto, but i see this as being a good way of getting a new generation of theatre goers started!

Trouble is, that's also the argument for any other show being there instead.

Surprises me given that they're currently finalising offers for some potential new cast.. Very short notice period too.
whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should

Absolutely - they've been just keeping this one ticking along on it's 300/400 audiences while the refurb is taking place and to keep it open until everything is finalised....

Ambassador have spend quite a bit on their theatres on the past few years - as bananafrit says, the Piccadilly has has two lots of refurbs, the Fortune has been improved, the Whitehall was transformed into the Trafalgar Studios (however much I deplore the result!), the Playhouse has been the most recent recipient and even the Phoenix has had considerable sums spent (the marble stairs have all been renewed and two of the bars upgraded).
The engine roared, the motor hissed,
And who could see that the road would twist
