Sadly I had the misfortune to see last of Haussmann last night. Judging by the sprinkling of no returns for the second half I wasn't the only one who was disappointed. The root cause of the problem is the play itself. Slow, disjointed, occasionally funny but leaves the unanswered question of what's the point of it. Certainly not a comedy and fails as a melodrama as it relies heavily on the strength of the characters as very little happens . Unfortunately the charcters seem so poorly developed, that I had no interest in what happened to them. Perhaps to make up for this weakness there is immense amount of overacting, hard to know if this is the plays fault or the actors.
Needs a lot of work to knock into shape. On current performance most certainly avoid.
