Hi, I'm looking to but a theatre programme of when Kevin Spacey was in Sam Mendes' production of Richard III, preferably from the Old Vic run.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried digging up a car park?

I actually thought ejector seats would be a great idea, or ones that swallow people up into the floor, like a trapdoor. First warning your seat vibrates, next BAM! down you go

However, three women behind me just could not shut up, they were chatting about their work, showing video recordings of their kids, one actually said "I better turn the volume down as I don't suppose anyone else wants to hear this", I didnt want to hear their incessant drivel either. I turned around glared & shushed, didn't have much of an impact though.

How about having something like this printed in luminous glow-in-the-dark lettering?

"YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS CARD BECAUSE YOU ARE TALKING OR OTHERWISE CAUSING A NUISANCE TO YOUR FELLOW THEATRE GOERS. PLEASE RESPECT THE REST OF THE AUDIENCE AND REMAIN SILENT DURING THE PERFORMANCE. THANK YOU."

And leaving it on their battered corpse as a warning to others? I like it.

One of my favourite things about going to the theatre is getting away from my little darlings for a few hours. What could happen to them in 2 hours that I could do anything about anyway?

That "what could happen ... that I could do anything about" is the reason why I don't think it's acceptable to keep a phone switched on. Unless someone has learnt how to teleport they can't get home without a considerable delay, so they need to have left their children in the hands of someone who can handle the responsibility of looking after them and who is capable of dealing with any crisis that might come up. If they've left their children with someone they don't trust to take care of them, such that they have to be contactable at every moment, then it does rather suggest that those children should be taken away and placed with better parents. Having a mobile phone is not a get-out clause for using the cheapest babysitter available.

Well it would only vibrate, which most of the time no one would notice, but it's easy to stop with one push of a button without even taking it out of my pocket.  Really no big deal.
So if you're not going to answer it, why not switch it off and check it at the interval?

I always take an empty can of coke into the theatre with me and if I feel someone is misbehaving I throw it at the their head. U would be surprised how effective this is

It'd be more effective if it wasn't empty, or if it was an axe.

I applaud the fact they are prepared to stick up for themselves - good luck to them.

#255227 Hampstead Theatre

I'm relieved that the "new season" consists of two plays only and that I don't fancy either.  The Hampstead main house is one of the most expensive theatres I regularly visit and I won't miss having to pay £22 for the cheapest performance for a few months!

Now if these plays really were downstairs, which is much more affordable, I might take a chance...
