Advice Needed Please - I want to get my boyfriend tickets for his birthday & was thinking of going for the front row ones as I can't really afford much more then that BUT I've heard the stage is very high up, has anyone else sat there? if yes is that the case? & is it worth avoiding? My bf is 6ft 3 & I'm 5ft 5! I've sat in the front row for Billy Elliot many times & don't find the stage height a problem there, can anyone compare the two?

Thank you in advance :)

Never sat in the front for Billy Elliot so I can't compare but I always sit in the front row for Jersey Boys.

I've sat in all three tiers of the theatre but I feel much more involved sitting right at the front, it's like being at a personal concert. The first time you go and sit down you think you're going to see nothing because the stage is pretty high but I'm only 5 ft 2 and I don't find it a problem. I took my friend for her birthday the other week and it was the first time she'd been and she loved the seats.

If the cast are in the middle of the stage I can't see from mid-calves up but for the majority of the main musical performances they're much nearer the edge of the stage or moving about so you can see all the dances and everything. There are 2 or 3 scenes where I lose sight of 1 or 2 of the characters for 30 seconds or so but it doesn't affect the story and just hearing the lines is enough.

Hope this helps a bit :)

There are a lot of flaws in the story but i loved the score so would happily go see it. I quite liked the Australian version from watching the dvd, it was improved by a much more elaborate stage and less of the videos.

Kimberley's just not cut out for musical theatre. She's got a pop voice and it's not strong enough for the stage.

Not quite sure where some of you are coming from. I've seen it twice, in Wimbledon and Birmingham with very enthusiastic audiences. It's isn't a 'family' show so no place for a 10 year old. The hecklers shouting 'asshole' and 'slut' and the like is part of the show. It's getting very good reviews and all the cast are very strong, in particular, Oliver Thornton, Kristian Lavecombe, Rhydian and Ben Forster.
Many of the die hard Rocky Horror fans are saying it's the best production so far.
I thoroughly enjoyed it! I would disagree that not many people enjoyed it.

I agree it's a very strong cast and definitely not suitable for kids under at least 14 or 15 I'd say due to the language and the content. Most theatres do have a warning about this when you book the tickets or the 2 I've booked tickets with for it have.

Granted it's not everyone's cup of tea but I love Rocky Horror live because it's like a big adult pantomime and it's so much fun. It's a cult film and the official DVD includes a version which tells you what heckles to shout when, what to wear, proper to take etc.

Looking forward to it again in Leeds and Bradford later in the year!
