There has been talk of Maria Friedman reviving The Woman in White.

Woman in White I think will be summer 2014.

I know someone in the show but I'd never even think of talking about his feelings re the closing in public. That'd be just wrong.

I'm really happy that Madalena has the role of Eva, 1st saw her in Fame in 2007, and loved her voice back then - I never got to see her in Les Mis, but things I heard she sounded amazing...

That blog is fairly accurate most of the time, and its been reported in the press that he was doing one show per week. Its odd that new cast contracts are only until sept. It is odd the majority of leading roles havent leaked yet

Thats the first ive heard about him taking over full time in september, which i hope isnt true

He was awful in wss but ok in south pacific, but mainly as the role doesnt require much acting. He doesnt seem to have any control in his voice, no light or shade, he just belts it out and he really cant act. He does seem to see himself as the next joj, ramin, matt rawle etc so hopefully maybe he has worked on the acting side of things.

JOJ is great vocally but Jonathan Williams or Geronimo rauch have acted it better for me.

Rauch didnt do it for me at all. In fact for me the current cast is so weak I want to weep.  Tam's Javert is good as is Celinde's Fantine, Jacobsen's has really grown into Enjolras and as ever Blakely & Linstead do a sterling job, but Marius & Eponine are well below par

I thought Jonathan Williams was absolutely brilliant as JVJ. What a pity not to see him in the West End anymore; acting-wise absolutely wiped the floor with JOJ for me.

I have never seen him live, but vocally for me he wipes the floor of any other JVJ!

I'd heard he was leaving and then he re-signed, which I hope is true because he is my favourite Javert!

The new Valjean has a lot to live up to post Karimloo and Rauch though, I really hope they go for talent and not a name (not that the producers are often guilty of this in fairness).

I suppose it depends on what you mean by a name.  If it was a name within the musical theatre world then that would be OK, I'd love to see John Owen-Jones return to the role.  Going by the casting so far it looks like you have to be foreign to be in with a chance

Heard today from a good source that it was between Anton Zetterholm and Nadim Naaman for Enjolras. If that was the case, and Anton has got the part, then their choice has baffled me. No doubt Anton can sing, but he does NOT look or sound like a revolutionary young leader. Nadim was a magnificent Raoul, and is made for Les Mis. Hopefully they've given him another role in the show.

This reminds me of the Peter Joback Phantom casting.

No accounting for taste!
I don't particularly enjoy musical theatre snobbery as there is room for so much. There is room for class, drama, comedy etc. And for the record, Merrily We Roll Along now has more five star reviews than any other west end show... ever. For me, some of the finest musical theatre isn't built to last as a long running show. Jason Robert Brown's work highlights that for me.

Except DD still sells out regardless. They did attempt to rectify it by recasting the lead.  A friend who saw it sad it was noticably different to the London show, even changing some aspects of it which she couldnt understand why.

I only saw the London show and whilst it (and the audience) wasnt my kind of idea of a good night out, I thought the production was a good standard with some clever set/staging ideas and the cast were all great. If you wanted the movie on stage, you got it.

#263234 Stephen Ward: The Musical

Posted CaityGlinda on 25 April 2013 - 05:00 PM

The main problem I have with this, is that I haven't got a clue who Stephen Ward is and I've never heard of the Profumo Scandal until now, and I like to consider myself quite a cultured 18 year old. I can't imagine I'm the only person who will have almost no interest in this show because of that reason. I imagine that young adults aren't the target audience, which is a shame.
