I saw this last night in Wimbledon.

What an amazing production!  Great visuals, stunning cast, beautifully acted and sung. No difference that I could see to the West End version. All touring productions should be like this!

It is staged completely differently with a very similar look & feel.

It'll be in the Piccadilly, Gielgud and Palace. You have to follow the band half way through the first act, again in the interval then halfway through the next act.

Make that a third. A show that I hated restaged in a venue I dislike.

This is only very slightly above Viva Forever at the bottom of the "to see" list!

I think with regards to picking names they can sell, in a way it isn't a massive issue...it all comes down how well the tour is selling.  If it sells incredibly well in advance, there may not be a need to cast the biggest name they can as either of the lead ladies (if the producers' first choice also happens to be the biggest name, obviously I would never say not to go for them) however I don't see it as an issue having someone 'unknown' to the general public in any lead role.  With strong advance sales, the tour will do just fine, even chuck in a 'name' as one of the smaller lead parts if necessary.

Just my two pennies worth :)

Dan is a friend of mine, and so happy for him. He deserves everything he has worked hard to achieve!

so smaller theatres could house it such as the Savoy

or the Piccadilly. They may need a new tenant by next summer.

I heard that Lloyd-Webber wants to see it like he has always want...in an ill conceived arena tour in front of 20,000 people with really bad sound quality...I heard he was going to cast the show via local papers classified ads, and that the set would be an olympic sized swimming pool and the cast would be in the pool in synchronised swimming routines! - but that's just what I heard *Whistles Sarcastically*

On a real note - I enjoyed CRH's revival and could see it touring to middle scale venues like Liverpool Playhouse, WYP etc, but have a feeling as noted above ALW only wants get rich quick cash cows, so have a feeling this won't happen!
