Whoa thanks for alerting me that booking is open. Snagged a ticket for American Psycho this week, now a 15 squid bargain ticket for Scottsboro Boys, yay. :D

Oh yes, I'd love to see Children of Eden on stage, I still think it's full of beautiful songs.

Personally I also loved The Far Pavilions, perhaps because the book has always been a favorite of mine.

You can see what's on TKTS on their website: http://www.tdf.org/TKTSBoards.aspx - if you follow it regularly, you'll get a good idea whether Newsies or Once will be available in March. Though Once is coming to London, so I'd go for Newsies. It's harmless, fluffy entertainment with a couple of good songs, very Disney.  Broadwaybox.com has discounts for for it quite regularly, so you can save AND book in advance to not rely on whatever seat choice TKTS has left on the same day.

You could also look into Off-Broadway shows which currently have the (IMHO) more interesting shows like "Bare" or "Silence - the Musical". It's a bad season on Broadway.

Another thought: I wouldn't aim for a Broadway show on the day of arrival. Once you've gone through all the hassle of airport transfer, checking into the hotel, finding food, etc. and you sit down in the darkened theatre, jetlag will catch up with you quick.

I actually find the Mormon posters with their "previews sold out!" claim a bit odd... is this actually true?  And why are they only booking three months ahead to the end of May? I've been waiting to book for June for ages now. I suppose they were hoping to be sold out much earlier and then extend booking with great fanfare?  Anyway, wrong thread....

I have booked a preview seat for "Once" in "Premium Band A"  - same price as regular Band A seats (49.50) - does anyone know what's "premium" about these? I took it because it was a single seat directly on the middle aisle - perfect single seat to snap up I thought.

I do remember the talk of the WWRY sequel.  But to add my two cents to the general debate here:

ABBA and Queen were both huge for a decade (if not longer) and many of their songs are classics that are still played everywhere all the time. Both bands were "before my time" but I knew many of the songs before seeing Mamma mia and WWRY and I enjoyed hearing them fresh. WWRY has a ludicrous plot but songs like "Only the good die young" were fantastic theatrical moments. Mamma mia also has genuine heart in Donna and her two friends and the memories they share. The young characters are pretty much forgettable. I have no interest in seeing a show about four obnoxious skinny showbiz-wannabes like the leads in Viva Forever seem to be. I just need to switch the TV on or open a tabloid to see plenty of those.

The Spice Girls were big for 2-3 years or so and had - what? - two really successful albums? It just isn't the same kind of appeal. And stuff like "Wannabe" was huge in its day but it certainly never became a classic like Dancing Queen or We will rock you. My only Interest in Viva Forever had been Jennifer Saunders' participation since I'm a huge fan of her writing - looks like I needn't bother. I certainly wouldn't go for the bland pop music the Spice Girls churned out.

Bodyguard may live longer because Whitney Houston's career lasted longer too and songs like "I will always love you" are classics. AND they create great theatrical moments. It's been a week since I saw the show, but I still got "One moment in time" in my ears.
