#249886 Highlights/ Lowlights Of 2012.

Agree with you on Written on the Heart - think I might have seen it in 2011 though.

I think you need to stop sitting on the fence and say what you really thought of The King's Speech :P

#248924 Will The Programme Ripoff Ever End?

There has not been one reply that has even been close to being on point. The question is: When ticket prices are as high as in New York

They aren't

To pick a random example - Wicked tickets are £15 to £65 in London, and $57 to $162 on Broadway

You are probably correct that programmes used to be 50p, but if you look at historical values of money, 50p in 1975 (for instance) is equivalent to £4.11 now

I think he was skeptical, but he went to see Sooty In Space the other day and realised it actually could work. In other news, Soo has been offered the lead in the Polish play about abortions in the Royal Court Upstairs.

The tickets are on sale now. Large part of stalls unavailable and it's same pattern of seats across all performances, so perhaps reserved for members?

As long as the bargain "slightly restricted view" tickets are on sale they can keep as many back for members or sponsors as they like :)

Curse you Spacey and Grandage for making me pre-arrange so much of 2013 already :o

Sky Arts is showing the recent Russian TV version from next week, which should be an interesting comparison

#247172 In The Republic Of Happiness - Royal Court

Unusually for the Royal Court there's an offer on this - best available seats for £15 for 18th - 22nd Dec and 2nd - 5th Jan from lastminute

Offer only on for a couple of days.

#246415 Get Into London Theatre 2013

Booking not open yet but the list of shows seems to have snuck onto the website - the dates are for the last promotion but these are current shows.

So maybe worth waiting if there's something there you were planning to see

I assume they use the financial year.

Or I decided not to start a new thread for a one-off show.

Take your pick ;)

We could take over the local Travelodge

Yes, even if we can't get tickets - we can kidnap Sir Ken and force him to do an immersive performance of Macbeth in the bar of the Travelodge.

#245199 Rsc New Team - Same As The Old Team ?

The rebuilt Courtyard within the Roundhouse, have they continued with that? I thought that worked well.

Yes, I think that's what they used this year. They also had a slightly different set-up which they used for their US shows a couple of years ago, and I seem to remember this was what they were talking about using.

It would seem appropriate to me to propose building a new RSC Courtyard theatre in the former Olympic park in the other Stratford.

#244919 The Current Spam Problem

Posted xanderl on 11 November 2012 - 01:06 PM

I appreciate the mods are doing their best to delete this as it appears, but it's getting ridiculous - seems like every time I check the forum someone has registered a new userid and posted spam to a load of threads. It's getting like the bad old days of guest posters!

Some forums I post on force new users to have their posts moderated until they have made a few sensible posts - basically to check they are "real people". Could that be done here?

#244565 Royal Court 2013 Season

Got my tickets for both downstairs shows and Stenham. There is still availability for matinees of No Quarter - looks like they have kept an allocation back, there was no availability at 11:59!
