Saw it 15 October....JP was spectacular but I found both the passionate kisses bestowed upon his daughters and the gestures he used to describe a woman disgusting, but that's the way JP wanted to play it and no one was going to argue with him.  The daughters certainly had a reason for wanting to destroy the King.   Good, solid performances by the rest of the cast and I especially  Albany's transition from milquetoast to tiger.  A wonderful evening out.

Advice for those attending a play at the Almeida next time:  Go for the F row seats with slightly restricted view as there is nothing in front of you but a slender iron pillar.

Got my seats upgraded to Row F (not with restricted views).  This is my first King Lear experience.
Do you suppose Admin could combine this thread with Pharaoh's 2 thread?  I mean, Pharaoh started the thread about this a full year before I did and that would keep things tidy! :)

I saw this at St. Martins In the Field in 2002 during it's 50th anniversary run....it was fantastic.

One never does have "mouse" you know.....it's always "mice".
