So apparently the producers of Spiderman are currently looking for a theatre to house the musical but unfortunetly the only theatres probably able to house the show (imo: Dominion, Palladium, Drury Lane and Victoria Palace) are all taken already.
Apollo Victoria wont be free for many years, Dominion they could probably buy WWRY out, Palladium I think will have a hit on their hands if Charlie's done well and Drury Lane Im not sure.. I just have a feeling Shrek will leave there in the next year or two!
Thoughts?

The Lion King- June 2012 Review
30 June 2012 - 11:04 PM
I could find a proper thread for the London production of the Lion King so decided id just start one for this review.
I went to see the Lion King during the week and was surprisingly under-whelmed. Id seen Matilda the night before and Sweeney Todd earlier the same day and honestly i expected to enjoy the show a lot but apart from the 'The Circle Of Life' at the beginning i really wasnt blown away at any other stage. Im 17 years old and love the film and love the soundtrack but when i went into the theatre and watched it I just didnt click with it or feel for any of the characters or even the story! Even with Mufasa's death I was just sitting there sorta bored.
I realise the kid is only 10 but which ever young Simba I had on i thought was very bad. After seeing Matilda i know how talented the WestEnd kids are and this kid was just shocking. I liked young Nala though! The rest of the cast were fine, no real stand out performances.
While the set and costumes are fantastic to me it honestly felt like a billion pound pantomime.. (Could have been due to the fact that people started clapping along during Hakuna Matata) but really I dont see what all the hype is about this show! Maybe I just seen it on a off day but it was a big off day. Theatre was full though from what i could see.
No standing ovation at the end which was what i expected. From the performances it didnt deserve one.
The whole production seems slow and almost like its going through the motions (probably because half the cast have been with the show 5 years plus) but I didnt connect with the show at all or cared for what happened as opposed to Matilda or Sweeney Todd where I was completely engrossed..
on a high note though The Lyceum is a beautiful theatre
2/maybe 3 stars out of 5!
