#258736 X Factor The Musical To The Palladium

Posted Titan on 17 March 2013 - 10:25 AM

Personally I don't jump up and down about new British musicals, I couldnt care less what nationality they are as long as they are good.

For me i dont like X Factor, dont like Harry Hill, therefore it holds no interest. And with the dwindling interest in Xfactor with the general public, and also Simon Cowell (and his shows) slowly falling in popularity (his latest cooking show on itv is a bit of a flop) I wonder if the public are now too savvy to his manipulation of media and the public. I cant help think this should have been done a few years ago

#257796 Miss Saigon Revival Is Happening

its happened plenty of times before, especially for shows closing. for transfers then can and have done it before but transferring a show costs so its only doable if its a show thats profitable.

as you can see everyone has different opinions. matilda is good but is very over hyped. i enjoyed bodyguard, was better than i expected but its nothing special.

sitr is pure joy, better than top hat if comparing the two.

booking dates mean nothing. the show could easily close or (if its deemed worth the cost) transfer theatres before then if they want it

So you have never critised the government, a tv programme, a film, a show, a performer of any kind.

Not everyone can do everything, and Marti can not act convincingly, he is a decent pop singer (if you like his type of voice) but an actor he is not.

As someone paying for a product or service you have every right to be critical (without being nasty), why should people spend their money and accept mediocrity

@lynnr Your argument might have had merit but the childish final sentence undid any valid points you had.  Your basically saying that unless you can do better you have no business criticising anyone for doing anything.

in fairness its not bom setting the high prices, its the agencies. i mean over £15 a ticket booking fee is insane

No sorry Mallardo Leserf has a point, it is about perceived value.  Quite rightly if ticket prices are the same as a bigger budget show the audience has the right to expect more, this is the downside to the increasing ticket prices, the audience will expect more for their money..  Of course you equat cost to a certain level of quality and 'bang for your buck', theatre is no different to any other walk of life.

#255406 Wos Awards

Posted Titan on 20 February 2013 - 06:07 AM

if you want your awards (and your business) to be treated seriously then you have to be professional so the 'its just a bit of fun' excuse doesnt fly.  The venues and promotion for these awards have been getting bigger each year but wos professionalism hasnt matched this.

wos seems to care more about ticket sales and sponsors/advertising than being a valuable theatre website. i now mostly just visit the forum as the website has little info these days.

Thats true but some of the issues are why some shows were considered to be ok for the shortlist in the first place. An arena tour? I mean seriously

With regards to the regional production. Touring shows are considered regional I guess because they are in the regions, often designed to be and few people have access to a regional producing house (e.g Chichester, Sheffield, Leicester).  BUt maybe splitting the award in two would open things up more.
