#265041 Desperately Seeking The Exit's Questionable Ad Campaign

My company produced Exit in Manchester so I know how bloody hard he works. Not hiding anything, don't really see what difference it makes

It's nice that you want to defend a
friend/colleague. I'm sure we've all done that ourselves. But it means you're not providing an objective view.

Criticising posters as 'not supporting theatre' when they express their honest opinions about a show's concept or advertising is not going to win Peter or his show any friends. I've been quite intrigued by the idea myself, and thought about getting tickets, but I'm afraid this thread is rather putting me off. I have this aversion to being compared to a Nazi....

Wickedlover never said it needed names. They just said the cast leaked so far didnt encourage them to go back. Two very different things. And i agree with them. The cast (excluding koek) maybe talented but none of the names leaked so far make me want to see it again

Still good value, but not as good as they were.

#264079 Attracting A Younger Crowd To Theatre

The future of the theatre is dependant on getting young people into it. It involves 4 factors in my view. One - Parental encouragement from a young age - panto, then musical then play. Two - Encouragement from schools with trips to the theatre which is not what it was due to cost and "health and safety" etc. Three - Cheap prices for under 25's say, as they do at Chichester. General cheap prices are just snatched up by us older folk desperate for a bargain and probably would have paid more like the Michael Grandage season at the Noel Coward. Four - and probably the most important, product that the kids and their peers want to see - "old" musicals such as the Pajama Game for example is unlikely to appeal at any price!

Yes, they need to reduce prices so folk "give it a go". Avenue Q struggled until a new pricing policy was introduced and then had a long and successful run. Especially if the running cost are low for a musical which I understand they are.

#258826 X Factor The Musical To The Palladium

I confess I did actually just chuckle reading the synopsis of this. Which is more than can be said for the entire show of Viva. If Viva had only had this plot and with the Spice Girls songs maybe it would have worked.

I've been a long-term fan of X Factor (and Pop Idol and Popstars before that), but since they've moved to auditions in a huge arena and tried to make every series bigger I've just got frustrated. That said, I am a little excited about another new musical, and I'm not turned off yet. Bracing myself for another disappointment...

Anyone seen the show recently ? What's the new Scaramouche like ?

Thinking of seeing the show over christmas, but only if Scara is good !

From someone who has seen more than my fair share of Galileo/Scaramouche pairings, I have to say that Oli & Rachael are an absolute dream team. They have bucket loads of chemistry and are both very endearing in the roles. They've made me love the show again.

I went on Friday night and it was a fab show. I had the understudy Katie Paine as Killer Queen. it was the second time I've seen her, i think shes great and the rest of the principle cast are some of the best I've seen. Rachel John's No One But You gives me chills, and I think Alasdair Harvey as Khashoggi strikes a good balance between the comedy and menace of the character.

So after not really enjoying the show for a few years and having no desire to see it for a year or so I have remembered why it used to be my favourite 3 or 4 years ago.
