Following up the critically acclaimed sold out extended run of their original play ‘M’ the award nominated Vertigo Theatre Productions switch gear to present the controversial drama ‘Mysterious Skin’ written by Prince Gomolvilas based on the bestselling novel by Scott Heim.

Mysterious Skin will open on May 22^nd – 25^th at the Three Minute Theatre, Manchester and features an exciting cast of established fringe actors and new talent. The play will be directed by the award nominated writers/directors Craig Hepworth and Adele Stanhope.

From the company who brought you ‘M’, Rage, Exam, Die, Mommie, Die! and OUT!  amongst others comes a drama about two boys leading separate lives connected by one event. At the age of eight Brian Lackey is found bleeding under the crawl space of his house, having endured something so traumatic that he cannot remember an entire five-hour period of time.

During the following years he slowly recalls details from that night, but these fragments are not enough to explain what happened to him, and he begins to believe that he may have been the victim of an alien encounter. Neil McCormick is fully aware of the events from that summer and holds the answers that Brian is desperately looking for. However Neil is on a path of self destruction, a teenage hustler whose life is close to taking a dangerous turn, but with the paths destined to cross it’s only a matter of time before the truth about that summer will come out.

A hard hitting controversial drama that also enjoyed success as a movie starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, Mysterious Skin has won awards and received rave reviews around the globe and now comes to Manchester for the first time.

The show went on sale on March 11th and sold out the entire run in 24hrs, an extra performance was also added and sold out the same day. We have now added more seating in to the venue to get a few more in per night and those tickets can be purchased on the ticket site Quaytickets.

Peter Michael Marino wrote and conceived the musical adaptation of Desperately Seeking Susan that opened in London's West End.......and closed a month later.....whooops.

Now the writer/actor is returning to London with his one man show Desperately Seeking the Exit, a show about what went wrong with Susan and an American trying to figure out his place in a foreign country that speaks the same language.

This show is an utter riot, brilliantly written by Marino and directed by award winner John Clancy.

My company Vertigo had the honor of producing the Manchester Leg of the Desperately Seeking the Exit tour last year (it was also the UK Premiere) and got to have the man himself stay with us (such a nice bloke). We got to see the show a few times and i can not stress enough how brilliant it is.

The show was one of the most critically successful shows at last years Edinburgh fringe Festival and has also played to packed out venues and critical acclaim in New York, LA, Florida, Buffalo, Manchester and will soon be heading to Australia.

Story
In 2007, American writer/performer Peter Michael Marino wrote a musical based on the American film Desperately Seeking Susan, featuring the music of Blondie. It opened on London’s WEST END … and closed a month later. Whoops! Desperately Seeking the Exit offers a comical, tell-all, behind-the-scenes peek at how this £4m musical was made and unmade: hatching the idea, the deals with MGM, Debbie Harry and even Madonna, the workshops, the previews, the scathing reviews and the closing night. A unique and exciting show for anyone who likes to take a peek behind the curtain. Directed by Obie award winner John Clancy.
