Very interesting - must go ahead and book something. However, you've failed to answer the most important question of all. How many ladies loos are there+?

There's not a tune you can hum.
There's not a tune you go bum-bum-bum-di-dum.

I don't think it needs rectifying. I don't think Justin Bieber needs to attract more pensioners either.

I know it's interesting to say "Let's have a woman instead of a man this time..." etc, but can we just have the right person for the job whether they be male, female, black, white, gay, straight...?

Her great contribution to the theatre was to ride into Romford on a giant lobster in Market Boy.Which divided these boards as much as she did.

#257470 The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time

Posted Zinone on 06 March 2013 - 03:15 PM

I'm baffled by the enormous praise this has received. I saw it last night (for the first time) and found it inventive in parts with a great central performance but pretty unremarkable overall, as well as being far too long. I found all the other actors lacking in terms of basic believability - particularly the parents - and Niamh Cusack's is one of the most affected, unnatural and irritating performances I can remember seeing.

I accept that many others love the play, so I'm not wanting to start an argument, but thought it was worth piping up as a (lone) dissenting voice!

#259651 Theatre At The Cinema

Posted wickedgrin on 23 March 2013 - 01:53 PM

I have seen a couple of screenings of shows and always left slightly disappointed. The plays are meant for the stage and the acting style is very different for stage than for cinema. They are well filmed now with close ups etc. but again but the style of the acting is not suited to the screen. I am lucky in that I live in close proximity to London and I appreciate that others do not get the opportunity to go to London as often as I do and therefore it gives folk the chance to see plays which they might not otherwise see, but in my view it is second best.

At the bottom of the NT's homepage is a link to the "Press" webpage where you can download all press releases. The Light Princess will open in the Lyttelton in October, playing in rep with first Liola (opening in August) and then From Morning to Midnight (from November).

The What's On / Calendar View / Season webpage is occasionally updated to confirm which new productions will be booking in the forthcoming season brochure but there's no info there at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if they open booking early for this musical in the next season brochure, like they did for The Count of Monte Cristo ...

#255155 Wos Awards

Posted Laughingmonsta on 18 February 2013 - 11:38 AM

I have always thought with awards like this - there should be an algarythem added - which takes into account size of the theatre, how many shows it played, etc then award each vote a % once the above has been taken into account.

So a vote for example for a show in the Duchess is worth 1
A vote at the Appollo Victoria worth 0.25
