#263009 Bad Behaviour At A Show

I often leave work get the train for a 1hr 20min journey into London. I either plan before hand and take a sandwich to eat on the train or I pick something up from a shop & eat on the hoof on the way there if I'm unable to factor time for a sit down meal.  If not I try to get something to eat prior to the train home.  I usually arrive home at 0130 so could potentially have gone over 12 hours without food, this isnt a hardship if I get to see a show. Im not being a martyr here but showing that someone even with my capacity to eat can do it.

Regarding what people eat during an interval, it can be a problem if they are eating warm pasties and smelly sausages (you'd have to scroll back many tweets to see what I mean by that) as it makes me want to gag. If I was on a tube I could move away unfortunately being confined to a specific seat means moving isn't possible. I also think drinks (other than water) should not be allowed in the auditorium, the smell of cheap but overpriced wine is really something that should be confined to the bar.  I actually just bloody wish people would stop treating the theatre as if they are sat at home on their sofa with their feet up, eating a takeaway and chatting to their family. If that's what you want from a night then stay at home, it's simple.

I actually find this attitude really annoying. So if you're not willing to go without food for 12 hours, not have a drink all night and sit in complete silence you shouldn't go to the theatre?

We wouldn't have a thriving theatre scene if everyone had to meet your standards - people really would stay at home! A night at the theatre is meant to be entertaining, not an endurance test.

I'm as annoyed by anyone else by genuinely disruptive behaviour, but really, if the smell (or sight - ice cream doesn't have a noticeable smell, it's the mere sight of people eating it that offended your sensibilities in your original post) of food and alcohol affects you *that* badly, maybe you should be the one who stays at home. That would certainly represent less of a financial loss to the theatre than everyone else staying away!

I'm posting this here because I don't know what it is, a full blown leg kicking glossy musical or one of those hard gritty pieces with faux jazz music. So as it is at The Almeida and is its showpiece production over Xmas by the' new' guy Rupert, I thought fellow Almeida goers might enlighten me.

You know me. Do I book for this?

I also think that they have the perfect songwriters onboard too ... I reckon it's going to be superb!

What did anyone else who saw the show think of Alexia? On Saturday night I heard a few people say her Nabulungi didn't really work for them

As I mentioned earlier in  the thread, I was surprised by how much I loved Alexia (as I was indifferent about her in Les Mis compared to other performers), she was a really sweet Nabulungi.

I suggest him because he played Churchill in Three Days in May last year at Trafalgar Studio 1. I didn't see it, but he certainly looked the part on the publicity material- http://www.kenwright...dex.php?id=1234

stumbled across this the other day, wondered people's thoughts? I in no way claim to be an expert on West End performers' pay but £60 did strike me as quite low for the lead role! (Even though that is probably a lot to a child!)

I thought LOTR originally were to ho into The Dominion then WWRY withdrew the notice. I think after Love Never Dies not lasting long, I imagine the WWRY sequel wont see the light of day.

It's one of my favourites too, i've seen it about 20 times. I thought it would run for a while, very dissapointed.

I think Mormon would be much better suited to something like the savoy, The palace as we know is pretty awful in terms of sightlines.

Is it that certain that the Savoy will be available?  I haven't heard any rumours about Legally Blonde closing or moving....

Sad it's closing, but I don't actually like the stage show - I don't think there's enough dialogue or character development. But 15 years is an amazing run, wonder if they try to bring back the named stars for the last performance....

Sierra Boggess will definitely have left the show by January 21st, as from that week she will be playing Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway (for a limited time). This follows the news that the 25th Anniversary Performance of Phantom on Broadway will be held at The Majestic Theatre on 26th January.

Confirmed on the official Phantom Facebook page and in Daily Mail.

When is The Commitments looking to open? Would have thought Nimax would want a steady hit for the Palace for the time being rather than take a new musical.

How easy is it to get day seats on a Saturday do we think?

Day seated a couple of Saturday ago, arrived at 9am and was 4th in line for a two-show day. Reviews are coming out now so may get busier.
