I've just got an email from Ambassadors about this -

starting 7th December at the Comedy, starring Damian Lewis, Keira Knightly, Tara Fitzgerald and Dominic Rowan, in a version by Martin Crimp.

Sounds like a hot ticket. I wonder what Keira Knightly would be like? I rather like her, but I'm not sure she has any stage experience at all.

I know shamefully little about Martin Crimp. Except I heard 2 ladies at the National last week saying they were not going to book for something because it was "done by Martin Crimp". Do they have a point?

I'm very tempted because of Damien Lewis more than Keira Knightley, but agree that this is likely to be a hot ticket. Unfortunately I need to start watching the pennies, so will have to work out if I can afford to see it.

This was the excellent version done with Ken Stott in the title role at the Young Vic a few years ago - a witty translation and memorable production. It will take a lot to beat that but I will certainly be giving this a try!

Hmmm. See it for Rowan, or skip due to Knightley? Tough call! Depends on discounts available, I guess. I'm pretty interested though.

Thank you for that piece of information. Since seeing "The City" I've had my reservations about Mr Crimp.

However,  I absolutely adored the Ken Stott, Elizabeth McGovern Misanthrope at the Young Vic so am even happier that I booked tickets this morning.  By the way, how long ago was that - I'm scared to look it up as it'll make me realise how the years have flown past.

It looks like a strong cast all round with Miss Knightley being the unknown quantity. I must say I'm surprised she didn't go for a smaller venue for her London theatre debut.  Dominic Rowan was wonderful in As You Like It and I'm looking forward to seeing him again in Spanish Tragedy at the Arcola (opens next Wednesday).

All in all a piece of theatre to look forward to in 2010.

I can't see this offering many discounts, but some of the seats are £20, which seems very reasonable (providing you can actually see the stage from them, of course).

I'm sure I remember Keira Knightly saying she'd quite like to do a play, but at "somewhere like the Bush", rather than the West End. I think she's quite brave, and good luck to her.

I've only seen Dominic Rowan in Under The Blue Sky, where he was horribly miscast as an ugly loser. But I assume you're right to think he's very good. Come to think of it, wasn't Tara Fitzgerald supposed to be very plain in A Doll's House? Where are all the ugly actors??

Thea "As You Like It: Globe" Sharrock is directing.  Can't wait!

I'm extremely excited about this. I've really liked what I've seen of Thea Sharrock's work (especially her gorgeous AYLI at the Globe) and am a big fan of the cast (so many of my favourites, lucky me!).
