I listen to the Radio 2 EP show every Sunday - not for EP who irritates me with her giggling beyond words - but for the musical content of the show which is usually enjoyable. However today, Sunday 25th, her Essential Musical was 'Forbidden Broadway'. Why does she have an obsession with this show? It comes over brash and the songs are barely intelligible. Do many people 'out there' actually appreciate it. EP: in my opinion - drop it.

I saw Forbidden Broadway on, well, Broadway! It was one of the funniest nights out I have ever had, but I imagine one's enjoyment is highly dependable on ones knowledge of the particular show being spoofed. Luckily when I saw it I was fairly knowledgeable about most of the musicals being targeted but I have heard recordings of previous Forbidden Broaday sketches revolving round musicals I don't know and have failed to find the amusement.
I won't be called a baggage!

It can be a bit of an in joke but if I know the showthen I love the joke. When I saw them in the West End I guess I got about half their stuff. This didn't really bother me as what I was laughing at I found really funny and if you compare it to a sitcom et al how much of the time are you laughing?
I'm not sure how well their stuff records as I've never heard any of the CD's and I stay well clear of the Piggy Paige Show. I think its quite a neat idea for a radio show about musicals to play spoofs of musicals

Broadway has been very good to me. But then, I've been very good to broadway.

I wonder who the intended audience is for the EP show that dictates that they play the Forbidden Broadway version and then the original that has just been lampooned. It doesn't make sense to me; almost as though EP is saying "Here's a bit of fun followed by some reassurance to our sponsors that we think Saigon etc. is a masterpiece.". It can't help the listener that hasn't got the joke in the first place, can it?
Ooh, that Bernadette Shaw - what a chatterbox!
