My absolute favourite is the Sofra in Tavistock Street, very reasonable set menus, always superb food and service (and they seem to have painted over most of the vivid red walls now!) There are other branches (the Shepherd's Market one is brilliant) but this is the most convenient for many theatres.
Also I very much enjoyed a recent visit to Prezzo next to the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Would second Brown's, and the Stockpot for cheap and cheerful, but personally am not so keen on Joe Allen's although it is excellent for 'star-spotting'.
Am looking forward to trying out some of your suggestions!
