Whether they go beyond 2015 will be the interesting one with London, the last I heard (a couple of years ago admittedly) they had a 9 year contract, pending sales, to take Wicked up to 2015 at the Apollo Victoria.

I imagine they'll want to get to the 10 year mark, depends on sales really and also if any other upcoming productions are interested in the theatre.

Wicked is gonna run longer than just 10 years... It still sells out most performances and is continually ranked the top musical in London!

Yeah... it doesn't. It will be here for a few years, I'm with you there, but it hasn't sold out in a long time bar cast changes. 50ish available for each of today's shows, 100+ for Monday.

I also believe that Wicked will stay in the West End for at least another 5 years or so. Wicked doesn't need to sell out. The theatre is so big, that even half full, it's still more seats sold than other smaller theatres.

Plus the Apollo Victoria is hardly the most sort after venue in West End theatre (actually it might be the least?) so ATG won't get rid of them without something else lined up unless they really have to.

I wouldn't ever say the AV is not sought after as a venue, but it does like having long runs in there. It will be interesting how sales go when the tour opens.

In any case, we have to say the show is not as popular audience number wise as it was even two or three years ago. Its takings are probably not changing over time though, as individual ticket prices are rising regularly.

wicked does not always sell out! ive sat in a half empty apollo victoria before to see wicked.

and its never been as popular as it is in nyc or as its fans seem to think it is and when they extended for such a long period part of me did wonder. its unlikely to close anytime soon but if the right show comes along wanting that theatre then who knows. i think if wicked had gone into drury lane for example it could have been a different story
