Was at the show yesterday. First viewing of the new cast was good but I was a bit underwhelmed by some. The pace of the show seems to have speeded up as well. Madam Morrible just over acted and has a preference for speak singing as I call it. Boq was very enthuisastic and acting wise better compared to Adam. KRJ wasnt really any different to her first showing, quite ordinary really. Pretty good vocally though. I still prefer Lilly Flynns angry version. Ben Freeman was better than I`d heard but I wish he would sort out his accent. Acting ok, singing not the best but passable but dancing non- existent. The ensemble were a bit sloppy at times and definitely need improvement. Louise was quite impressive. a very different sound and Elphie. She is far better live than any You tube recording i`d heard this week. NGD was her strongest song and she`s finally got that powerful finish to it. Similarly with DG. Again there was quite a delay to her "its not her" line. Im sure with practice whatever goes on with getting on the lift she will get quicker. Her act one elphie is reserved, insecure, unsure and acting was quite believable. On the other hand in act two she is supposed to be quite angry. But I thought the emotion wasnt really convincing up until the For Good scene. She did rush her lines quite a bit and didnt think there was much chemistry there with Ben or Gina. I also thought she was bit conscious of her positioning on stage . Obviously this will improve. Louise did seem more comfortable and confident with the softer songs and in some scenes more than others. There were a few Tuckerisms put in but not surprising if you`ve work with her for nearly 2 years. One thing I did notice was how much Gina has up her performance this week. She seemed to be the standout performer. It might take a few trips to get used to Louise`s Elphaba I think.

Thank you for this detailed post about the new cast. I'm not planning on seeing the show again until next year sometime - but it's nice to know what people think of them so far.
I personally loved Adam's 'Boq' and doubt I'd ever enjoy a 'Boq' performance more than I enjoyed his.

Sounds like it'll be a creation of some sort. Weird it feels weeks and weeks since she left Wicked !

It's a thankyou for her fans, part of which was filmed right after her final show on the 27th. It's really sweet, I have to say.
Hopefully there'll be some tour casting news sooner rather than later.
