I think people are partly linking her to the Tour, because of that "being green again soon" statement she apparently made.

Of course she might not have been asked. But your point was that it was a ridiculous thought because it was a tough sing, and it isn't out of the realms of possibility. It's highly possible and that's all te speculation was.

Elphaba is not half the role Jean Valjean is.

Saw Wicked last week and both me and my friend thought Rachel looked as if she was pregnant! Especially when she was wearing the very last dress we thought we noticed a baby belly. So maybe she'll just have a little baby break after Wicked?

My friend thought that in May...think she was wrong somehow! But interesting.

On the Elphaba/Jean Valjean front I'd say Valjean was more challenging as well, certainly from the acting and emotion side, though I don't think anyone has or would challenge that. Singing I'm undecided- they're VERY different!

Not sure you can compare similar top roles - depends on the criteria and if you want to get a stopwatch or clapometer out or award marks for dramatic content. I don't think Elphaba clearly has less story or emotional comment. She's certainly got a wider range to convey -  from comedy to despair.I have seen an amusingly bad Valjean - but Valjean isn't meant to be funny. She's also got one more big song. The big difference is that Les Mis is written so that the burden of really big songs and   dramatic moments are shared by Fantine, Eponine, Marius , Enjolras, Cosette,   Marius and Thenardier as well as the Glinda/Javert character. They have the tearjerkers and the Thenardiers provide the humour. The result is that Les Mis can work ( and in recent years has worked) with a Valjean who can't act convincingly, or much at all,   and where it doesn't really get going till the Bishop, Fantine or  the  Thenardiers turn up.  With Wicked there's no one else to carry most of the story, provide the range of emotions, or to close Act one and start Act Two  with a memorable number.

I thought Kerry was a good actress. Certainly not the best I've seen, but definitely a good one. And better than Alfie Boe in Les Mis.
