I've a spare Entry Pass ticket for the Alan Bennett double bill today and it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to shift it onto anyone. Assuming I can't, how would I go about returning it? What's all this about a £2 charge I've heard?

They will give you a credit voucher for returned tickets but charge a £2 fee for this - although I'm not sure if you can do this on the day of the show?

Day of the show is too late for refund -£2. However since it's an EP ticket (and I believe it's sold out?), you should give them a ring anyway. They might be able to sell it on, and you should make them aware that you won't be there to collect it.
