This is a weird one. The only thing I can see working as a concept is a show mocking the whole X Factor system. Which would fit with Harry Hill writing, the whole thing could be comedy gold. BUT I can't see Cowell's pride allowing it.

Unless he thinks mockery can flatter its subject matter?

More likely that, despite his obvious disdain for Musical Theatre, he's seen the revenue it can create.

But I really don't know what to expect.

Yup, original poster is right. X Factor next year... if Chorus Line closes early there is a Christmas season with one man star performer lined up. Barnum for the Palace

It'll be in the Piccadilly, Gielgud and Palace. You have to follow the band half way through the first act, again in the interval then halfway through the next act.

"X Factor: The Musical" could work, as long as they use Simon, Louis and Sharon as the basis for the judges. I don't like the idea of someone trying to be Cheryl or Dannii, and can't see it working if they do.

It's becoming blatantly obvious that Simon Cowell is trying to pull all the strings to try and salvage what remains of The X Factor and by 2014 it could well be too late. Audiences aren't enjoying the concept the same anymore and I certainly can't see a musical based on the TV show will last very long in the West End. Let's face it, there is already a musical with a talent show contest story to it: Viva Forever. Why does the West End need another? I'd be interested to see how the production goes about portraying the judging panel; will they create new names or have actors portray Simon, Louis and co?

Nevertheless, I know for sure I won't be going to see it if it does go ahead.

This is a great idea for a show - as well as The Palladium.  When Cowell was filming at the Palladium for Britain's Got Talent, he was so enamoured with it, he decided instantly to do the X Factor musical there.

I enjoyed Brown's score for SPEND SPEND SPEND, so it'll be nice to see him get his teeth on a new piece of family friendly musical theatre, that'll be good in the Palladium.

Of course A Chorus Line isn't selling, so it'll close soon sadly.

Commitments is going to the Palace when Rain closes in August and Cameron will put Barnum in one of his theatres.
