Says 'FOR the Donmar Warehouse' rather than 'at'* - maybe in the Trafalgar season then? Would make more sense. Stealing a bit of a march on the Donmar publicity announcement at any rate!

Not sure if there is another Trafalgar season - the last one was annnounced as the final season, I think?
Also it is aimed at giving opportunities to new directors, so McPherson wouldn't be directing if it was at the Trafalgar.

This new play will need to be a knockout to justify a 4-month McPherson residency at the Donmar. After Philadephia last summer, that's half a year's programming set in Ireland. Perhaps Guinness could take over from Barclays Capital?

Donmar is the company, and the (Donmar) Warehouse is the theatre venue.

The Donmar are certainly keeping him busy. He recently wrote a new version of The Dance of Death for their last residency at Trafalgar Studio 2

If this is true then I am beginning to despair.

The Recruiting Officer now seems like a distant and anomalous memory....cast to the hilt that it was with star stage names....and I can only think that was a fluke on the part of Josie Rourke.

Since she came the programming has been patchy and ill executed.

The theatre has to choose carefully what it stages as the capacity is so limited and they do not have that many shows on during the course of the year.

I cannot see the venue ever reaching the standards that Sam Mendes or Michael Grandage attained...and I also think that if Goold reinvigorates The Almeida when he takes over the reigns, then I can see The Donmar lagging even further behind.

The Donmar was always on my "key" list with places like NT, Barbican, CFT, RSC, Young Vic, Hampstead etc. in that I would just book everything there.

For the first time I think it might well be falling off the end...

O come on. Red was good, JC was good, the Irish play was good. Just from my first thoughts. I didn't like the one with Dominic West or the one with Jonathan Pryce which just proves to me that a name doesn't always cut it. But over the last few years not too many duds.

I agree the Almeida should get exciting again.
