I would really like to see the Mamet. Damn, more scheduling woes. Thank heavens I don't fancy the other one!

It does not seem that exciting....but then 55 Days was a massive massive success....I must say they are doing VERY well at Hampstead

Tiger Country, Ecstasy, Judas Kiss, 55 Days, Old Money, Di and Viv and Rose have all been huge sell outs

Race is bottom drawer Mamet.  I saw it on Broadway a couple of seasons back and not even a charismatic  performance by James Spader - playing essentially the same lawyer role he played for years on Boston Legal - could make this short, punchless clunker seem like anything other than an extended TV episode.  Mamet has been resting on his laurels - such as they are - for years.

WoS are still a touch lightheaded after last night's do. They've just erroneously tweeted that these plays are "announced for Hampstead Downstairs".

The Brenton sounds good, hope they don't use the same casting director the RSC used for Orphan of Zhao

Haha, was thinking just that. Will be interesting to see who they do cast. The Brenton play does interest me a lot though. Was thinking of combining it with the Almeida's Chimerica to make a Chinese double day, but they don't overlap. Hampstead runs are so terribly short.

Mamet I've not had a good relationship with, yet. I saw American Buffalo at the Seattle Rep earlier this year, and thought it most dull. Didn't care for anyone, mainly because he made them all so dislikeable with the use of profanities every other word. Will wait on casting for this one.

I'm relieved that the "new season" consists of two plays only and that I don't fancy either.  The Hampstead main house is one of the most expensive theatres I regularly visit and I won't miss having to pay £22 for the cheapest performance for a few months!

Now if these plays really were downstairs, which is much more affordable, I might take a chance...
