I know this has been brought up already but Miss Saigon is a given now after the success of Les Miserables. As is Wicked, in time. It's financed by a studio.
Apparently there is a script kicking around for a movie version of Blood Brothers. Also for The Last Five Years however I fear this would have to be incredibly fleshed out, rather than just the two of them.
Jersey Boys is happening with apparently a director already appointed.
As excited as I genuinely am about Into The Woods (I must admit) I'm somewhat apprehensive given how severely stuffed up Nine was- don't even get me started.
Sondheim has said he thinks Company would make a good film.
I know it's just my opinion (and I know there are already filmed staged versions of this) but I would think the following would make good movie musicals- Barnum, The Light in the Piazza, Passion & Sunday in the Park with George.
They should do Sunset Boulevard- even if it's just as a DVD like Love Never Dies.
What about Chess, Parade, Ordinary Days, Disney's AIDA, Billy Elliott, Aspects of Love, City of Angels, Follies, Mack & Mabel, Kristina, just to name a few.
Don't we get to be happy? At some point down the line, don't we get to relax without some new tsuris to push me yet further from you!
