With Chichesters excellent reputation with musicals recently I don't think Barnum will need a major name in the title role for the show to be a success. Singing in the Rain is a huge hit without big names for example. Plus it does not have to be the huge show it was originally at the London Palladium with Michael Crawford, but a more scaled down version like the recent revival of La Cage Aux Folles so smaller theatres could house it such as the Savoy. Or even a big top in a London park as the show at Chichester will be housed in a tent as the main theatre is being refurbished.

singin in the rain is a much better known product with songs well known and loved in the wider public concious, Barnum is not

or the Piccadilly. They may need a new tenant by next summer.

I think they'll need a biggish theatre so I think it will go into the Palladium. Douglas Hodge was considered but he took on the role of Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

It was rumoured for the Prince Edward back when John Barrowman was in talks for the lead role. Is the Piccadilly that much smaller?

The Piccadilly is smaller capacity wise with 1200 seats but the stage is on par with most midsized theatres.

I think Dean Chisnall would smash it.
He finishes in Shrek at the end of February, so the timing is right.

Everyone offered the lead has turned it down !
I'm not convinced it will sell at all if I'm honest. After Cirque Du Soleil, the tricks will have to be pretty amazing
