I just hope people don't vote for 'names' as always - even when they haven't seen them live. I'd really like Katherine Kingsley to win 'Best Supporting Actress in a Musical' for instance. But she's up against Mel C in JCS!!

has any of the other arena or albert hall shows been nominated in anything other than event of the year before?
im not sure an arena show should be featured in london theatre awards

Its all a bit odd. You can produce the best performance of the year in Wicked, WWRY or Les Mis (which isn't far off reality) and you don't seem to qualify for best of anything and can only get in for best takeover. The really good current tours don't feature - because they are not seen as regional or London. Yet JCS can get in, and Bodyguard can get in - although hardly anyone can have seen it to nominate it. That before you get to the problem with a public vote - that some shows played to audiences of 100, others to 1500 or even the whole O2 stadium, and some that otherwise might do well had really short runs.

These awards are a joke. Sheridan Smith will win best actress as surely the only people voting are musical fans who use this website.
Mel C best supporting actress?! Clearly rigged just so she will turn up and give it some publicity.

The best actress is very competitive. i saw Sheridan, and Jill and they were both very good and deserving. I suspect Billie might deserve it even more, but as they have her in a small theatre, where not many people can actually get tickets to see her, and I couldn't, it may be more difficult for her.

There do seem to be some odd nominations here.
I personally am sulking because one of my favourites Mack & Mabel wasn't included at all. However good to see Sweet Smell of Success with a few nods.
I think the "Best Off-West End Production" category ought to be two categories; musicals & plays. It is hard enough for these shows with limited audience capacity without limiting them further.
