This is in my top five of worst things seen on stage. I just found the plot was barely there and the score (except title song) forgettable

Lord, as someone who was in this show for a long time even i have to admit this show is a wreck, its a great launch pad for young dancers etc but the UK productions over the past 10 years are getting camper and camper. The original UK production was not a great show but my god it was brilliantly choreographed and directed with flair, now the choreography is as pedestrian as the scaled down set and the show is aimed at little kids, i miss the original Fame.
If you ever get chance to watch the first ever production on DVD at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in 1988 its BRILLIANT. Raw, authentic, fast and exciting, gritty at times (a riot amongst the kids ends act 1) and it feels legit. Such a shame they decided to take all the swearing out and the heart and replace it with colorful costumes and campness. It would be great to see the 88 Fame back, i would be there in a heart beat. No doubt this tour will be the same old same old
