The thing about dressing for theatre is it is fine for people who have the time, but those who have to come straight from work, or have to travel a great distance to get there, to ask them to dress up seems a little mean. I always smarten up a bit, and always a suit for opera, but people should really wear what makes them comfortable. After all, drinks can be spilled or smell in the auditorium, but a pair of jeans doesn't normally effect someone else's enjoyment of a show.  

I'll admit it is a shame that the sense of occasion is gone from theatre, with casual dressing being part of that, but forcing people to dress up is something I just see as wrong.

Suffering from a surfeit of Baileys and Trifle for breakfast - well why not!

I just managed to catch up on the BroadwayProm, and I was totally blown away by AJ Casey's  Don't Rain on my Parade".
What a voice and what presence!.
If anyone is looking for a film to stage revival, they could do no worse than a Funny Girl with AJ Casey in the title role.

Only  one thing, however,  wrankles about the whole show.  Why, when the solo performers could sing so gloriously, did the chorus have the need to still be on the book. Those flapping pages were a big distraction.  Shame on you!
