I enjoyed this, very jolly. An invitation to overact but actually all very appropriate. Not sure about the sub Gilbert and Sullivan singing, lyrics poor. But an entertaining evening, seasonal perhaps. Wildly extravagant set. But then they have to fill that darn cavern of a space.

Yes I did enjoy this but (there's always a but) I thought it would have been better in a smaller space - a piece crying out for a procenium arch. The sets were amazing but totally unnecessary - just there to fill out the vast space. Hated the musical numbers too - again unnecessary. Plus of course the piece is thin so the cast have to overact like mad to get anything out of it. Another 3 stars for me. Haven't seen anything fabulous for a while now......grrrr!

I wanted to like it, and I suppose I did to an extent... but not as much as I would have liked to be honest. I know you can't help how it's written, but it felt like a waste not to show the court room scene. Some of the characters are under used and under developed, and as elaborate as the sets are, I dot think they worked.

The court scene is meant to be off stage and I think that works.

I disagree - its built up to the extent that you want to see whatever happens in court, happen onstage too.

I saw the last performance of this today and enjoyed it. I thought the sets were brilliant and liked the costumes. I mainly went for the wonderful Nancy Carroll but thought overall everyone was fine. I'd agree that I was disappointed not to see the courtroom scene played out on stage though.
