John Lithgow and Nancy Carroll headlining this romp.  Sounds fun, if a bit She-Stoops-meets-Flea-in-her-Ear!

I have fond memories of Mr Lithgow's turn as an English villain in Cliffhanger. His UK profile has dropped somewhat, but he could yet sell a few tickets.

Surprised no one has posted yet now previews have started.  Anyway, despite a few line flubs it was an hilarious evening, well written, acted and one of the most spectacular sets I've been at the National recently.  

John Lithgow commands the stage as you'd expect and brings the house down with some business in Act II.  

I wouldn't call it a musical but there are a number of well written musical numbers which are also very entertaining.

Relieved to hear this as the only performance for which I could get a ticket was a weekday evening, which is my worst case scenario. Sounds as though it should be worth seeing.  The rehearsal videos on the NT website looked promising anyway.

I hear from a friend it's around 2hrs40, but can't confirm.

The set indeed is spectacular, I loved it. I didn't actually find the play itself that funny, nor did my surrounding patrons judging by their muteness, but the acting was superb and still definitely worth seeing.
Running time is 2hrs 40 mins inc interval.

And am I alone in thinking the Gerald Scarfe illustration looks like David Cameron ??
