I received an e mail today which contained the interesting news that the RSC is going to return to the Barbican with Richard II.
Perhaps they might eventually put on a few of the Stratford productions there?
The Barbican may not be everyone's idea of theatrical heaven, but it did serve a useful purpose for many years in giving the RSC a wide audience.

Yes, despite the vehement denials it seems that the RSC Benedict and the Barbican Beatrice are eyeing each other up and testing the water prior to the inevitable happy ending. The fact the RSC have apparently ditched their previously announced 5-year dalliance with the Roundhouse adds to theat impression - it makes commercial sense, the Rounhouse didn't look very full from where I was sitting and that annual £1 million City of London grant they gave up when they left the Barbican must be looking pretty attractive now.
