I guess how you define "successful" - Miss Saigon sprawned more professional productions than Cats (all running to respectable lengths to my knowledge), while Cats ran for longer on both Broadway and the West End.

I guess there are arguments on both sides.

But Cats made much more money

That's a great choice of word, but possibly not quite the one you wanted.

it all depends how you define success, just money or are there other factors to take into account such as number of productions

One usually does reflect the other, the same as length of run, and amount of revivals

Cameron Mackintosh has confirmed at the Japanese premiere of Les Miserables that the revival of Miss Saigon is happening in London, probably 2014 once he finds a theatre (expected to be Prince Edward Theatre though)

The Prince Edward is likely as its one of his so it make sense as he'll have no rent to pay and it has a good capacity.

There'll still be rent to pay. Theatre staff don't work for free just because the owner is producing the show, and the cost of running the theatre is the same no matter who's producing. Also, the theatre and the production are financially separate and must be treated as separate businesses even if all the money ultimately ends up in the same organisation.

It's definitely the Prince Edward. Many big shows were after it incl Charlie/Choc Factory but he has held in to it for Saigon.

Not too excited about it myself.. It will be a cut down version relying on projections I suspect.

It will then tour in 2015 !!!
