Given that people go to the theatre to watch the performance rather than the building, shouldn't the design be completely subservient to the purpose? The comment above strikes me as being like designing an aeroplane and wondering if that whole putting-wings-on-it thing really creates the look you're going for.

Not to be argumentative - which of course I am - but restricted view seats, if they are not very restricted, can provide a good value alternative for a lot of people. So I am not sure they are always a good thing.

Contrary view on the cafe: having a slightly rubbish cafe in the RST and forcing people to go elsewhere to get a bite to eat is good news for the rest of the local economy.

Tickets go on sale to the public on monday, and I''ve got half an hour monday morning to try and snag a couple of RIIs at the Barbican.

Anyone know what ticket availability is like at the moment? Should I ignore the weekends and go straight for Monday nights?

A quick check shows row K if you want two seats for the matinee on saturday 21 December and row L if you want evening.  Monday 16 December shows row P.  First saturday(14 December) at Barbican shows stalls completely sold out both matinee and evening.

So you should be OK if you dont hang around too long after public booking opens

Ooh, thanks, that's an excellent tip!

I suspect that we'd probably be ok getting the top-price stalls, and that it's the cheap seats that'll sell out first, because there's so few of them.
I'll ask my friend how much she is willing to pay.....
