Just seen the post on the wos homepage. Really hope this is true. Whilst I'm worried whether it would find an audience I do think the west end is lacking an old fashioned style broadway dance based show.

I'd love to see this in London, and I don't think it'd struggle that much to get an audience, it would attract the same type of people who are going to see Singin in the Rain in droves. Yes, the latter has the film to advertise off, but Newsies can use the Disney name and market itself as good old-fashioned feel-good entertainment and I think it could do well.

Wonder what theatre Disney are looking at, on Broadway it plays at the Nederlander Theatre which has 1232 seats so they'll need a theatre with a similar capacity. Its not a big production so it'll fit into most midsized theatre, I think the Aldwych or the Victoria Palace would be perfect,

The Phoenix...?

This show is only going in a larger venue. Given the height of the set, I don't think we are talking of the aldwych/Phoenix variety here, more the Victoria palace/ dominion size.

The stage of the Nederlanders is on par with the Phoenix/Aldwych though.

The Phoenix isn't big enough capacity wise, think Once or an ATG production is more likely.
The Aldwych has hosted biggish shows before so Newsies could fit but I think Disney would prefer a theatre like the Adelphi, Victoria Palace or Palace.

Yes it is big enough capacity wise, it's only 200 smaller than the Nederlander. The nederlander actually feels quite intimate as its only two levels, and the mezz isn't that big, but the seats go very wide.

Would the Savoy be big enough? It's has 1100 seats which is okay for a musical theatre but don't know if it's big enough stage wise to hold a show like Newsies.
