Well, she (supposedly) wrote that when she was something like 16. There's nothing wrong with simple or "infantile" rhymes, if they work in context.
Sounds as if they are struggling to shift tickets to the outing...

The main issue with that song is that it doesn't make sense dramatically in the show (or at least it didn't when I saw it).
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Michael's best friend (whose name I've forgotten) sings it because he's feeling abandoned by Michael after he starts dating Holly. The book scenes make a vague suggestion that the friend MIGHT be interested in Holly, but then he makes it very clear that he's "happy" for Michael to make a move on her. It makes no sense for him to be singing about how she should be dating him when none of what motivates him for the rest of the show is based in romance - it's bromance - he's jealous because Michael spends no time with him any more!
There are also a few lyrics about how he's fed Michael all the lines he used to chat her up - except there's a whole comic scene about all his lines being crap where Michael stops listening to him, and he knows that (because they make a joke about it). The song as written just doesn't make sense in the show - which is a shame, because the actor playing the friend sells it pretty well until the ensemble starts gyrating away in the background for no real reason.
