A relative of mine flew down from Scotland for the weekend with her boyfriend. He had corporate tickets for the olympics and she did the touristy type things including going to two shows and shopping. They met up between events for a meal and a few drinks so everyones a winner.

I came up to the West End again last night - again having to change at London Bridge, without problems - and found it distinctly busy and buzzing, more so than usual for a Tuesday night: queues at tkts, English National Ballet's Swan Lake well sold, restaurants busy.  People working around Oxford Street say that's as busy as normal, just with a different crowd - noticeably athletes and so on.

(I do feel sorry for shops in Stratford Westfield having the centre only open for Olympics ticketholders, though - NOT what they'd hoped for, I suspect).

Although when I walked through on Saturday evening (after an amazing day in the park) Westfield (it really should be called Eastfield!) was heaving with customers.  It’s not loosing out financially. at the end of day money is money

That's not the case, is it?  I thought the problem was that the car-parking had closed, but you could go to Westfield by public transport.  It's certainly outside the perimeter of the park.

Westfield was only restricted to ticket holders for a day and a half last weekend. It is open to everyone the rest of the time.

Yes weird why call it west anything? Like we don't know the difference. I thought it would be a real opportunity  to showcase the East End of London.

They are much bigger in the US.

The Southbank was positively heaving today - tons of people, nice atmosphere.
