They'll be showing the Queen/Bond section for many years to come.

Amazing. Rowan Atkinson's bit was great. And the music very powerful all the way through.
2013 Theatre: Shrek the Musical (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane) : The Ladykillers (UK tour at Curve) Quartermaine's Terms (Wyndham's) The Audience (Gielgud) The Mousetrap (St. Martin's) Old Times x2 (Harold Pinter) Peter and Alice (Noel Coward).

Were any of you actually there? Possibly if so you haven't got home yet
Have to say I wasn't planning to watch the whole thing but switched on to see the start and was gripped! Particularly once I'd worked out how to get rid of the commentary on cable.

Nice little story going on in the "internet and modern age" bit. Boy sees girl, boy likes girl, girl disappears having dropped phone. Boy rings girl to give back phone......
Only HOW? She no longer has her phone.....who does he call?
I know the modern age is clever but ????
Or perhaps I missed something!
I quite enjoyed the night being simultaneously amused/amazed and unimpressed in equal order.
I sort of could have done with it being even madder...Voldemort (there I've said it) should have been as big as the stadium and snatched up the small child from the bed....
Have to say the HUGE sleeping baby in the bed was just downright creepy!
Was amused when the CND symbol morphed into the sign for ecstasy during dance music....or maybe it was just meant to be a smiley face?
Loved the forged ring rising the join the others.
Could have done without Mr Bean
Bradley needed a bit more oomph with that bell....ring it man, ring it!It won't bite you!
And Kenneth, dear Kenneth.....great reading, lovely smile of wonder.

Kind of self destructive to say something like that in the face of tweetdom which is territory of very savvy journalists and media people. It came up on my tweets retweeted by someone else so it must have gone viral if I got it. MPs should get IQ tests. ( not culturally based of course ) Can't say more, tongue stuck to inside of cheek.

Stray thoughts:
1) Hasn't Danny Boyle done well since we saw him directing obscure Ben Jonson plays (very well) for the RSC in The Swan ?
2) Rupert Goold would have loved to have got that gig
3) Based on a conversation I heard between Tesco check-out staff, people have been inordinately impressed by staging ideas that in theatrical terms are pretty commonplace (like the doves of peace on bicycles) - a rare moment when the mass population gets a glimpse of why we here like theatre
4) It looked good on TV so must have been 100 times better live.

I move in better circles than you, Epicoene, but I can confirm that the check-out staff in Waitrose were also singing its praises.
Wonder if this will reignite interest in "Frankenstein" which is doing the rounds again in cinemas. Similar staging ideas (eg the bell, the house, etc) and similary Tory-MP-baiting multicultural casting.
