Not sure if its been announced elsewhere but Cats is advertised in the latest Grand Theatre Wolverhampton brochure for 19th to 30th March 2013. Tickets on sale Thursday 28th at 10am.

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S CATS TO TOUR FROM FEBRUARY 2013

One of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history, CATS will begin a new tour in 2013. Premiering at the Edinburgh Playhouse on 8 February 2013 the show will also visit Aberdeen, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Bradford, Hull, Sunderland, Southampton, Milton Keynes, Woking, Ostend and Dublin. Further dates and venues to be announced.

Interesting.  These are all secondary cities and big towns as opposed to our major cities. (except Manchester of course)

Was just thinking, although the set is pretty big (Iv only seen the DVD version) it could be scaled down a wee bit for the touring production but apart from the thrust stage the set really wouldnt be that hard to replicate would it? Was always hoping for a London revival but what could a west end revival have that the tour wouldnt?

And Edinburgh, home of many national institutions, including the Parliament! Milton Keynes and Woking are part of a growing network of large modern theatres for touring shows. I assume they compare favourably as venues with their much older and tattier equivalents in the older city centres.
