Isn't it refreshing that they realised something wasn't ready?

Has anyone heard the rumour that the replacement will be a transfer of "The River"?

And then everyone will book to see it at the NT, and it'll play to empty houses at the RC. That would serve them right, haha.

Yes, I guess the script for Frankenstein was deemed not important enough to delay the whole show! :P
If, for some strange reason you care what I've seen, it's all here:

More background on this from BBC News - http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-18518063

Quote

Writer Richard Bean, of One Man, Two Guvnors fame, told the BBC he "just couldn't get the script to work".
"If anyone has ever read the book, I think they'll sympathise with me," said the playwright on his difficulty adapting Alexandre Dumas's 1,200-page novel.
"It's a difficult task and first time round I failed on it really. I'm not ashamed to say that."

...

The production was halted after he handed in the completed first draft last week.

Presumably they knew it was a 1200 page novel when they decided to adapt it!

So had nobody involved even read the book when they decided on it? I could have given them a dvd of the Robert Donat film...

Not really, it happens all the time - the refreshing bit is that they decided not to inflict it on us. But it will be interesting to see what family show can be ready to replace it at relatively short notice.

Panto! They could knock together Aladdin in a few weeks. Lenny Henry as Abanazer, Richard Griffiths as Widow Twankey - box office gold.
