Would of been the perfect opportunity for an Elf transfer.

I listened to MusicalTalk's interview with Marc Shaiman and it's going to be mostly based on the book with elements from both films, Warner Bros owns the film and stage rights hence why they're the lead producer. I think it has the potential to be great, it is likely be a visual treat but they need great songs which isn't a problem as it's Shaiman and Wittman and also a strong cast especially for Wonka and Charlie.

Elf would be great!
I think a lot of people will be expecting the songs from the movie, so I hope if they dont use them whatever they have are very good. I remember each time at Sister Act I always heard people moaning that there were no songs from the movie

But I thought the Sister Act score was a vast improvement on the movie.

Sadly it is. Nevertheless, I suspect this'll do rather well. (I hope they keep the Oompah Loompa song in though

Should have gone to Drury lane, i can see Shrek stuttering to a halt by january, think of what they could have done with the budget they have and the space available at the lane. But no, palladium has 100 odd extra seats so...*blows raspberry* What else could possibly replace shrek in the new year when it goes on tour if not this.

I hope there will be a few elements from the original film score as I like the nostalgia and it was a musical film, unlike Sister Act, which was a film with some music. I loved what they did with Sister Act as it felt totally different from the film so I couldn't really compare them. I can't imagine "I Want It Now" to survive if they do use the original music though. What an awful song!

Nothing from the original film will be in it. That score is owned by Kenwright. It will be completely new - thank God.
