Wow, I wouldn't have thought it merited that, but maybe the Vaudeville has a gap to fill and this fits; also, of course, it will attract interest as an unfamiliar work by a well-known playwright.

I saw it in Richmond and found it rather slight.

I have to agree. Saw it at Oxford and thought main two were rather miscast. Support roles were good and play gets going quite nicely after the interval, only to peter out at the end just as we were perhaps getting interested. May do well due to Jenny Seagrove and Noel Coward...Oxford Playhouse was certainly pretty full but a bit disappointing.

At the risk of incurring wrath and as time is a bit short this morning here are my thoughts in review form!

Looking forward to seeing this, but it might be yet another flop at the vaudeville... Shocking year so far, after a firmly decent few years there.
2012: Sweeney Todd - Mamma Mia - Les Miserablés - The Phantom Of The Opera - Hay Fever - Written On The Heart - The Awkward Squad - The Duchess Of Malfi - A Tale Of Two Cities - Soul Sister - She Stoops To Conquer - 13 - Noises Off - Absent Friends - Juno And The Paycock - Masterclass - Travelling Light - The Fitzrovia Radio Hour - Abigail's Party - One Man, Two Guvnors - What The Butler Saw - The Mystery Of Edwin Drood - The Sunshine Boys - Pippin - Last Of The Haussmans - The Importance Of Being Ernest - The Merchant Of Venice

Noel Coward said of the late Nyree Dawn Porter that she was the worst three actresses in London
What would he say of Jenny Sea Grove?

I saw this yesterday and really rather enjoyed it. Solid 3* stuff. No, it's not the world's greatest play, and the odd line does jarr (and could easily be cut), and als the ending could do with some tightening, and tying up of loose ends, but nevertheless, it's a perfectly enjoyable afternoon at the theatre. It looks fairly good- it didn't have Kenwright stamped all over it- and it's well played. Jenny Seagrove I warmed to (though she is not 44!), and Finty Williams excellent as usual. I did think the actor playing Keith was v poor, esp when opposite Perdita Avery as his 'wife'.

Worth seeing on a good offer (front row is £20, if you want to stretch that far. I didn't, but wouldn't have felt robbed if I had).

This raised a smile with us too, bless her, a good decade out I would say!
