Last night the ability to go to the first unread post had returned. Now it has gone again. I wonder: has it actually broken again, or does it simply come and go as it pleases?

It does appear that the virus infection is back - and that could be causing the problems.
My fear is that people will disappear off to other boards and never return...

I'm still getting virus warnings as of this afternoon and may well bow out before long.
But, just had a bit of a giggle to myself when I spotted the little WOS logo at the top of the page by the topic name, which on my screen shows 'HATSONSTAG'...

First impressions = don't like the new version :-( But I will get used to it, like when it has been upgraded before now. I agree the sign in button is hard to find - I thought it wasn't there at first! Also, I don't seem to have any emoticons even though the post options say they are enabled. If the sad face above works it's only because I've typed the punctuation marks in, not selected it from a list. On the old style it was easy to see which posts I'd already read, even when I wasn't logged in. Now the titles only change font when I log in and read them. I also don't like the silhouette (sp?) that appears for everyone who doesn't have an avatar, surely it could just be a blank space like it used to be.
Ok, rant over now. Before long I'll have probably forgotten what the old style used to look like!

No a blue question mark. Very tasteful. The silhouette is like when they can't print the killer's photo cos he is up for another crime next week.

The board doesn't seem to have any knowledge of your image. You could try uploading it again.
All these years I've been writing software in the belief that "it should work" is an implicit part of the specification. I should have been writing forum software instead, where working is apparently optional.

Count yourself lucky to have a silhouette. I've now got a red cross.

Time for a career change - get in touch with the WoS bosses and see if they let you have a crack at sorting things out :-)

My main dislike is on each specific forum page i.e. General Chat, Musicals etc. I get the whole of the topic title and the name of the person who posted last, repeated in a little box which doesn't quite fit, over on the right-hand side above where it says who posted and at what time e.g.. 'New Board Version - last post by glossie' above and wrapped around 'glossie Today 14:18' Anyone else getting this?
It's just a niggle...but really irritates me.

I found it REALLY hard to see how to sign in
Me too. Only managed to find it today. It's at the top next to "Create an Account" for those still struggling. Not good.
If I listed every show I'd seen since 1974 I'd get RSI.
