When I saw Sister Act, there was a chap sitting at a desk, on a revolve. It turned and slammed into another piece of scenery. He hurt himself, an ambulance was called, show halted for 20 mins or so. Injured chap was already the understudy, so it started again with understudy no 2.

"snaps one of his fingers in two! "
In case anyone had visions of fingertips flying across the stage, it's a small fracture apparently and he's back tonight,

Yep, he is there with finger splint; there's a line about breaking a finger, v apt.
Isn't this good? Not just our Si who , of course, is marvellous , but the rest of them and the set and the costumes and for once, for me, the sound. A play for our time.

I'd like to think the understudy was on because the original actor got hurt in an identical fashion.
If, for some strange reason you care what I've seen, it's all here:

Nice little piece about the understudy in Sunday Times. He says he has been a jobbing actor for 13 years. He was just about to go on as one of the thieves.
