Saw this play 'The Arkward Squad' on Friday night and absolutely loved it! As someone born and raised in a north-east mining village, it really hit home for me.
Its basically about a head of a family (played by the fantasic Libby Davison)who is this campaigner for the local community and is getting the local centre named after her. Therefore her two daughters come home for the weekend to support her. Her daugthters are completely different. One is a hard-working, recent BAFTA award winning docu-film maker played by Barbara Marten and the other a married-wealthy 'WAG' type who hasn't worked a day in her life except for a couple of weeks at Safeway's. She is played by the fantasic Charlie Harwick (Val from Emmerdale). Her daughter also turned up with a recent boob job and is busy arranging her wedding to a golfing rich sports star.
I won't go into two much detail about the story but I was howling. Its a really funny play and quite touching at the end. A very clever use of projections. Its on till April 7th, go and support!!
